Grammar Girl executes my grammar execution

Yes folks, I have been taken to the woodshed for my fast-and-loose use of grammar. Grammar Girl has dedicated a whole episode to comma splices - which are either my worst grammatial mistake, or they are my part of my unique writing style.

This is an excellent short podcast that really delivers information you can use in everyday life. It’s one of my favorites. Don’t think for a second GG’s review is a bad thing. I’m thrilled she took the time to dissect my writing and help make it better.

Now I’m wondering which of the killed-off ANCESTOR characters she especially liked. If it matches mine, I can see why she might be just a little bit peeved…

Hey Scott,
I feel your pain. I have written a couple short stories, and some Poetry, and sometimes it’s a total bitch knowing if all that stuff is right or not. Reading and being inspired by Stephen King’s work doesn’t help at all with that stuff if you know what I mean. I think he does that stuff just to see how complex he can make a sentance before he uses a period. :)

Get your coordinating conjunctions, and the comma splice repair kit back out, Scott! Damn, what did you do, leave them in the closet? Now, there is a comma without a coordinating conjunction, how do we repair that?

What even more concerning is that Scott splices and slices those commas with a platinum blade!
Thanks dude, now I’m hooked on Grammar Girl. She’s got a voice and a brain to match. You should kill her in Ancestor 2, with a comma!
