Quentin finds out that Orbital Station Two, also known as “The Deuce,” is not a happy, safe place like Ionath City. Quentin continues to get pressure from the To Pirates, even as he leads the Krakens (1-2) against the Sky Demolotion (0-3) in a must-win game.
Amazing episode this week! Thats what i’m talkin about, QB has finally become the leader he was clearly meant to be! An 87 yard pass to end the game! Are you freakin serious?!?!?! Lets just hope that he doesnt get killed for not throwing the game! Anyway, GREAT job this week, Scott, thanks for takin your entire day to do it, and I can’t wait for the upcoming “Violence on the CB’s” either!!! Thanks for the fix!

Another great episode. 57 minutes is too long??? 30 minute episodes?!?!?! is this a fucking CBS sitcom??? The average length for Earthcore episodes was 40 minutes, and that was without a lot of the “extra” content. Just bustin yer balls for the hell of it. Keep em comin Scott!

Hey Scott, this episode was AWESOME! That’s what i expected from “the rookie”.
The “extra” 30 minutes were better than every piece of the rookie i heared before. It looks like you dig really into it after a while.
Maybe you should practice in a holotank before recording a new episode.

I’m not one for leaving comments and things but i’ve been drawn to comment on this episode. Absolutely brilliant! The most exciting podcast episode i’ve ever heard from anyone. Im not one for watching football (american or english) which would sound weird as i listen to this story but my heart was racing all the way through it.

I normally don’t comment on single episodes but, Wooohoo a nearly 1h fix for my Brain. And the stuff was so damn intense and awesome!! Thank you Scott, thank you for the hard, but great work you’re putting into this. 
You know, next week is going to be a football game and that should be pretty good, but we haven’t seen much in the way of organized crime yet. Much like the Backstabber Hutchins excellant podcast ‘Seventh Son’ Me thinks ‘The Rookie’ is about to go into PUNCH DRIVE.

I’ve got to agree with everyone else. This was an awesome episode. I was going “ba-da-bap” on my steering wheel every time the Krakens scored, and I missed my exit on the highway due to paying more attention to the game than to my commute.
Typo/Voice-o alert: At one point, you said “Pioneers” when you meant “Demolition.” You should check the manuscript and see if it was a reading error, or if the manuscript needs to be fixed.
First of all, I laughed at the Chick McGee reference as well. I actually wondered if you’d somehow managed to get him to ‘guest’ on the podcast. lol Secondly, this was fan freakin tastic. This coming from a 35 year old woman who rarely watches football and can’t exactly picture all of the plays but am enjoying the hell out of The Rookie just the same. Thanks for keeping me hooked like the little junkie I am!

Great episode. I don’t know a lot about football but I have a copy of Paper Lion sitting around some place- I’ll have to reread it to better understand the various positions. By the way, is there a ‘Night Trane Lane’ character in the story?
What an astounding episode! It’s easily a career highlight so far and perhaps even eclipsing the very best moments in your previous podcast novels.
I wonder if I’ll have to save episodes so I can get an hour-long fix every two weeks…
Awesome episode, Scott. I’m surprised I didn’t run off the road while listening to it.
I do have a question, and it’s probably something I’ve just missed, but are TD’s in this league worth 6 or 7 points? Unless I missed something (and it is possible), the score was 18-21 when QB came back in for the last play. During the huddle, he even mentioned that a field goal would tie the game. However, after the touchdown, the score was 25-21, with the extra point “putting them up by 5″. Did I miss something?

Yes, looks like I messed up the “up by 5″ and the score. Sorry about that. I get a little fired up reading that part of the book, and I lost focus there. It was also 11 pm, I was walking up-hill (both ways) through waist-deep snow to get it done (and don’t forget the plague of locusts …).

NAILED IT! Absolutely fantastic. I was glued to the mp3 player for the fourth quarter, as much as I am to any other fourth quarter when my team is behind. And I did the same dance I do when the shot goes in or the pass is completed. I would say that’s the highest praise I could give you as a writer, that you evoked emotions in me as if what you were telling me was happening live in front of me. Flat out, bar none, best episode of any podcast ever (this is from an EarthCore addict from way back, so I know quality when I hear it)

I’ve listened to them all. This is your best single episode by far. Great performance. You set me up for weeks and knocked me down with this one.
Loved this episode, I didn’t expect the fact that despite the long time count for the ep it would have been all story. Crap, I know people have been harping on you, but I agree keep it to 30 mins… that must have made you pass out. But still I loved every min of it. I can’t believe I did TWO, count em TWO Spittakes during this ep, the rather expletive rant by QB, and the Naked Nun comment. Damn those were funny.
Holy fucking cow!!! This episode was freaking sweet! The intensity was as good, if not better, than some real games I’ve watched. What a great way to lead into the Superbowl!!! I’ll be rooting for the Bears wearing my (Krakens) Orange jersey…. GO BEARS!!!!! GO KRAKENS!!!!!

I have listen to episode 17 for over 5 times. Man this was a really good episode. Enjoy it almost as the 2007 AFC-NFL payoff game. I was into the podcast so tough that I forgot that it was only a “Story” The sound effects was great. The scene where time seem to slow down to a heartbeat then speed up shows me that you got &&)*_80 talent. Keep up the good work and I will be a Scott Sigler “Junkie” forever.

I’m catching up, slowly but surely. I musta spent nearly 45 minutes listening to the second half of this episode tonight - constantly rewinding play descriptions and important bits to get the details right in my head.
This is by far your best work out of anything else I’ve heard in 3 months it has taken me to get here. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the story 
In case it wasn’t clear the first time, I’m from Australia so didn’t care at all about American football - but I’m picking up so much from your story that I could probably watch a game and understand what’s happening now. And it’s all your fault

I have just re-listened to this episode (I am going through the whole Rookie again). It is absolutely outstanding. You get totally sucked into the story and you just cannot wait for the next bit.
