The Rookie #11
December 4, 2006 _ Scott Sigler

Time for the season opener! The Krakens play host to the Woo Wallcrawlers in a critical Week One matchup. Quentin realizes now that he’s the third-string quarterback … but will he see any playing time agains the Wallcrawlers? And if he does, is he ready for the real thing?

This episode features guest starDrew Domkus of the Dawn & Drew Show. Pretty friggin’ cool.

Great Rookie fan-content from Tee Morris (author of the bestselling “Podcasting for Dummies“) and Christiana Ellis (author of the podcast novel “Nina Kimberly the Merciless“)

This is awesome. Great sound effects too, Scott. Love the sound of the crowd roaring. Well done.

Xenophanes

Excellent production quality, Scott! I dig the sound effects.

Only a small issue with the little audio clip at the end from Tee Morris and Christiana Ellis. Quyth worker girlfriend? I thought all the Quyth workers were male and the Quyth females were hidden away? Also this is strange because this Quyth worker ‘female’ was interested in the Sklorno, uh, they are female. Wha? Confused…….

However, I did like the Firefly (goram) and Battlestar (fracking) references.

Nate

Scott,

Another awesome episode! The question is, what’s a rough figure for how many episodes in the rookie? This world’s so fleshed out - I can imagine the story going on a LONG ways. Or possibly a sequel? I already don’t want it to end.

Cheers,

Nate

There are four books in THE ROOKIE series. This is really different from the rest of my stuff (ah-duhhhh). I don’t want this to end either!

Nigel in Melbourne

Now we’re talking. Excellent ep.

Brent Weichsel

wow! four books of the rookie. Music to my ears. Can’t wait to hear them

Geoff in StL

Scott-

I was digging the sound fx as well. Especially the rhythmic stomp of the crowd. Kind of the Ionath version of “We Will Rock You”.

The game seemed very abbreviated however, and was over before it started. I had to listen to it twice to get the appropriate dosage for my fix!

Great job See you at the press conference.

drew

that drew domkus is one sexy bitch!

Jason

Great episode…I think someone is in a lot of trouble!!! That skit at the end with Tee and Nina was great also

Glitch

Okay the ep rocked but whats with Tee getting shows ahead of us? I listen to him a lot and I know how much time he puts in. So How long did you have this on the shelf waiting? ;)

Oh and it real cute that Quenton Barns is the QB Initials are fun

Nelson in Denver

Great Ep Scott. You nailed it.
Now, I promise to get you a photo with the Save Perry’s Balls shirt (I just need to get a pair of poultry sissors). See ya at the press conference. That should be fun, you can count people with Junkie tags floating above their heads. Keep em coming. Feed Us!!!

Dave

Awesome episode. I’m english, still don’t totally get your yank version of football (couldn’t you have called it something else to differentiate?), but it was fantastic listening, sucked me right on in there, and the time until my next fix is way too far off.

Will have to make do with listening to earthcore again instead!

Anthony JB

Nice, very nice. This is the first game of American Football I’ve understood and enjoyed.

Will we ever hear any more Big Space ? You can never hear enough B.S. !

Scott (NC)

I loved the ep and those jerseys are dead sexy. The price is to rich for me (though not a bad price for jerseys that look so authentic). Some of the other Kraken merch will be mine though if I get some Christmas moolah.

Wyrd

I loved the extra audio segment with the human and the quith worker.

Not only was it funny, it also supported the story’s main contention that, in the future, GFL has something that appeals to entities of all kinds such that it acts as a great unifying force. Mega-kudos to Tee Morris and Christiana Ellis! :-D

Furry cows moo and decompress.
